Expert on prehistory, Carlos Garrido (Barcelona, 1950) is the author of numerous books on the Balearic Islands. The best-known series are Las Islas mágicas (the Magic Isles), with volumes dedicated to Mallorca, Menorca, Cabrera, Ibiza and Formentera. Regular contributor to the press, has written and directed several television series on the history and heritage like Mallorca endins, Jaume I, l’aventura de Mallorca, Etics, Nostrum and A l’ombra de les Cariàtides.
In 1994 he published together with Javier Aramburu-Zabala and Vincente Sastre the first Guía arqueológica de Mallorca (first Archaeological Guide of Mallorca). As a guide, he has conducted numerous visits to places in Mallorca like the Cathedral, Bellver Castle and the Palma old town within the tours "EmbARCA't". He also directed the nocturnal visits to the cemetery in Palma Àngels i ombres.
