Coinciding with the centenary of his birth, the Pollença Museum and the City Council organize the exhibition Poesia, by the artist Gust Graas, which can be seen in the Church of the Convent of San Domingo curated by Oliver Spiecker and by Kit Graas, the artist's daughter.
Although he was born in Luxembourg, Graas had a great relationship with Pollença. He participated in numerous activities at the Pollença Museum, such as his social gatherings, and had (and still has) a large audience.
Gust Graas's painting, although it may have small figurative references, is an abstract group or with vegetal or architectural elements that manifest themselves in a cryptic way.
Two people lived within Gust Graas: one was the lawyer and senior executive of airline and television media companies; the other was the artist. The first, surely, was very rational and moved by certainties. The second, the artist, was moved by intuition, passion, surprise and poetry. Because as he himself wrote (Notes d’atelier et peintures, April 1991): “The abstraction of my painting leads to a magical universe full of poetry.”
