The young Russian pianist Alexey Sychev (Lipetsk, 1988) opens the edition of Pianino 2019 with a concert that includes works by Liszt, Debussy, Chopin, Granados, Prokofiev and Ravel. The XII International Festival of Classical Piano Music is celebrated in the Cell of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand of the Cartuja de Valldemossa with five concerts from May 18 to June 15.

Alexey Sychev began his piano studies at the age of 7 and with 10 he already made his solo debut with a Symphony Orchestra to perform Beethoven's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1. He graduated from Conservatori Tchaikovsky in Moscow and later studied at the University of Salzburg Mozarteum, under the orders of Jacques Rouvier, and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, with Professor Jan Jiracek von Arnim. Later he continued his musical training at the University of Münster with Arnulf von Arnim.

Throughout these years he has been awarded in 27 international competitions in four continents. Among them, 1st Prize of the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition of Ascoli (Italy), 1st Prize of the Ennio Porrino Contest, 1st Prize of the Massarosa Piano Competition, 1st Prize of the Princess Lalla Meryem Contest of Morocco, 1st Prize and the Prize of the public at the VIII Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Weimar-Bayreuth or, 1st Prize at the Dr. Luis Sigall International Piano Competition in Chile.

In 2018 he obtained the third prizes of the Dublin International Piano Competition and was finalist in the Maria Canals International Contest in Barcelona.
