'Carte Blanche to Jean Marie del Moral. Processes 1978-2018'

0 Votes

Jean Marie del Moral began thirty years ago to investigate the relationship between artists and their space of creation, the workshop or studio where the creative act takes place. Es Baluard is now celebrating its 14th anniversary with a Carte Blanche to this photographer of Catalan origin, settled in France since his childhood and now installed in Mallorca.

Through the photographs of different painters, portraits or photographic series, del Moral relates his photographs to the original works, mostly belonging to the museum's collection.

Jean Marie del Moral (Montoire, France, 1952), son of Spanish exiles, began his career in the seventies working as a photojournalist for the communist newspaper L'Humanité. After covering the revolution of the Claveles of Portugal, working in New York and Toronto, an hour and a half in the studio of Joan Miró made him change his course towards other perceptions, which the artists and their studios evoke.

In 2004 he published his book Barceló, photographs by Jean Marie del Moral (Thames and Hudson, Steidl, Actes Sud, La Fabrica), with exhibitions in Spain and Portugal. He is also the author and director of two documentaries: Picasso y Tauromaquia (1993) and Los estudios de Barceló (1991).
