'Criada'

0 Votes

In 1974, a year before the death of the dictator Franco, a handful of artists from Mallorca created the group Criada 74, a provocative movement in favor of artistic liberties that was active until 1978. The chapel of the Cultural Center Misericòrdia de Palma now hosts this exhibition curated by Ana Bárbara Corominas and MaríaJosé Corominas.

Criada is presented as a circuit in which some of the actions carried out by the Grup Criada are reproduced. It begins with the painting that gives name to this movement, a painting that represents a young woman dressed as a maid. A dozen figures representing anti-democratic politicians and police are scattered throughout the room, some fictional characters that the group installed in the wall of Alcúdia and in the architects' school of Palma in the 70s and that the police forced them to remove.

The group Criada 74 was formed by Caty Bonnín, Bartolomé Cabot, Pep Canyelles, Tinus Castañer, Miguel Ángel Femenias, Ángel Muerza, Lleonard Muntaner, Carmen Roig, Vicenç Torres and Miquel Trias.
