The Obra Social Sa Nostra Caixa de Balears and BMN launches a new edition of the courses for adults of the 2018-2019 season, which are held at the  Centre de Cultura Sa Nostra in Palma.

Music courses

The piano. A sound trip through the great solo instrument and its chamber facets with different instruments

Teacher: Andreu Riera.

Duration: One or two Fridays per month from November 16, 2018 to June 14, 2019.

Hours: from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m.

Objectives: Through this course, we will explore different stylistic facets of its soloist and chamber music repertoire, with works by important composers such as Chopin, Granados, Beethoven, Brahms, etc.

Methodology: the solo instrument this year incorporates other instruments such as the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, human voice, etc.

November 16: Antonio Noguera / Enrique Granados. A musical and artistic relationship. Guest artist: Eugenia Gallego (musicologist)

November 30: The piano and the violin. Beethoven and his Great Sonata "Primavera". Guest artist: Nina Heidenreich (violin)

January 11: The piano of the 21st century. The piano music of Josep Prohens. With the presence of the composer.

January 25: The piano and the voice. Italian passion Italian vocal repertoire. Guest artist: Antoni Aragón (tenor).

February 22: The piano with 4 hands. Fantasy in F minor by F. Schubert. Guest artist: Yuko Mizutani (piano).

March 8: The piano and the flute. Women composers of history (Women's Day).Guest artist: Enrique Sánchez (flute).

March 29: The piano of the 21st century. Crystal relaxation of piano music by Rafel Aguiló. Cinema for a 3. With the presence of the composer.

May 03: The piano and the cello. French impressionism. Fauré and Debussy. Guest artist: Emmanuel Bleuse (violoncello).

May 24: The piano and the clarinet. The music of Schumann and Brahms. Guest artist: Víctor de la Rosa (clarinet).

June 14: The piano and the violin. The great violin virtuoso and composer Manuel Quiroga. Guest artist: José Manuel Alvarez Losada (violin)

Live the opera

Teacher: Francesc Bonnín Socias.

Duration: from January 16 to May 22.

Schedule: Wednesdays from 6pm to 7:15 pm.

Objectives: To understand the how and why of opera based on the knowledge of the different musical elements (melodic, harmonic, formal, contrapuntal, instrumental, vocal ...) and dramaturgical (narration, scenes, text, characters ...) that are essential in the construction of operatic works.

Methodology: From an opera or a part, the different elements and aspects are explained.

January 16: La bohème de G. Puccini. The cold as a theme. The form and rhythm in the narrative. The motives.

January 30: La bohème de G. Puccini. Act 2º. a great impressionist painting. Concertante

February 13: Turandot de G.Puccini. 1st scene A cantata for choir and orchestra. The pedal note.

February 27: Turandot de G.Puccini. The modernity? Scales, harmonies, etc. The orchestration and cinematographic rhythm.

March 13: La Italiana in Algeri by G.Rossini. Interculturality The shape. The voices and the belcanto. The concertantes.

March 27: L'elisir d'amore by G.Donizetti. A history of self-esteem Characters. The belcanto

April 10: Carmen de G.Bizet. Gender violence The different planes of the narrative.

17 April: Andrea Chénier de U. Giordano De Amores y revoluciones ... Appreciation of scenes and arias. The orchestral colors

May 8: Tosca by G. Puccini. The pleasure of violence. Appreciation of arias and scenes.

May 22: Madame Buttefly by G. Puccini. Construction of a tragedy. Appreciation of arias and scenes.

The Beatles: approach to the creative universe of the most famous band in the world

Teachers: Tomeu Canyelles and Francesc Vicens.

Duration: from January 15 to March 19.

Hours: Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Methodology: Through auditions, images and documentary fragments the music historian Tomeu Canyelles and the renowned musicologist Francesc Vicens, author of several publications on the Liverpool quartet, will offer a review of the Beatles' trajectory from its origins to the dissolution of the band in relation to the most important social and political events of the 1960s.

Program:

January 15: With the Beatles: Hamburg and Liverpool, the origins of rock and roll and the birth of Beatlemania.

January 22: A Hard Day 's Night and Help! The beatle filmography of Richard Lester.

January 29: Revolver and Rubber Soul: the paradigm shift.

5 February: SGT.Pepper's and the band of the lonely hearts, the alter ego of the Beatles.

February 12: The Inner Light and the influence of Joan Mascaró Fornés.

19 February: Yellow Submarine, Magical Mystery Tour and Let It Be (filmography 1967-1970).

February 26: The Beatles, India and the recordings of Esher: the beginning of the end.

March 5: The creative emergence of George Harrison.

March 12: Abbey Road and Let It Be, the creative culmination of the Beatles.

March 19: "Here, there & everywhere": the legacy of the Beatles in the 21st century.
