Happy Island is the fruit of a happy meeting: that of dancer and choreographer from Madrid María José Ribot and the company Dançando Com a Diferença, directed by Henrique Amodeo and that works with disabled people.
Seated on the island of Madeira, it orders a choreography to great dance figures every year. When they called María José Ribot, they wanted this revolutionary artist to print a greater degree of daring to address a complex issue: sexual and family relationships.
In this piece, five dancers (Bárbara Matos, Joana Caetano, Maria João Pereira, Sofia Marote and Pedro Alexandre Silva) give themselves with absolute freedom to dance with their bodies and their minds. In addition, it offers a stunning vision of the Portuguese island with the screening of the film created for that purpose by Raquel Freire.
