On May 11, 1981, at the age of 36 and after a long fight against cancer, died one of the great icons of the twentieth century, converted into a legend. We are talking about the Jamaican musician and composer Bob Marley, a pacifist and apolitical man who helped spread reggae music and the Rastafarian movement around the world.
Bob Marley was one of the founders in 1963 of the group The Wailers, still active with original members of the formation and that is now on tour in Europe and arrives in Mallorca leading the line-up of the International Reggae-Ska Winter Festival 2018, to the delight of their unconditional fans.
The band is led by guitarist Al Anderson (1950), of American-indian and African descent. In 1972 he emigrated to Boston selling antique guitars to collectors and meets Chris Blackwell, the head of Island Record, who invites him to move to England to work on projects for several artists of the label. That's when he was introduced to Bob Marley, embarking on the world of Reggae.
In this performance in Mallorca we will have the opportunity to again enjoy the classic anthems of Bob Marley, with the expertise that nobody like them could play live. La Barraca Sound System and Calee Arias will perform as supporting acts.
