Fest of Pest
February 1, 1821 is a date to remember in Son Severa. That day the military sanitary cordon that had been established a year earlier because of the epidemic plague that ravaged the city , killing 1,040 residents, was lifted. Since then, every first of February a solemn mass is celebrated.
Among the acts of this popularly known as the Feast of Pest (Festa de la Pesta) are highlighted the floraloffering to the shepherd boy and the giving of the Doctor Lliteres Awards (Premis Metge Lliteres), awards in the field of research that bear the name of the attending physician of Son Servera during the plague.
