Since its construction in 1898, this neoclassical building has passed through different uses. Firstly, as the main office of the Societat Mar i Terra (a recreational society), secondly as a public school and lastly as the head office of an association of ball de bot (a set of traditional dances of Mallorca). After years of neglect, the city council of Palma carried out a project of restoration and in 2010 once again opened its doors as a cultural space. It shelters the Municipal School of Theatre of Palma.
