During the second Republic in Spain between 1930 and 1936, Cala Ratjada became the destination of a number of Central European characters fleeing the adverse circumstances of their countries. A colony of foreigners with abundancy of artists, intellectuals, writers and painters who changed the rhythm of daily life in this little corner of the coast of Mallorca.

The now presented book researches on this colony from local and international optics and is the work of municipal archivists Maria Massanet and Gori Rexach, along with the Swiss specialist Gabi Einsele.

This research also provides material for a documentary directed by filmmaker Antoni Capellà, leading a team formed by photographer Agustí Torres, Margalida Melia and Xisco Martorell. The documentary also provides interviews with people from the village who lived in that time and descendants of those foreign families who remained in the municipality.

The event includes the presentation of the book and the film screening.
