Celtas Cortos, 'Contratiempos'

0 Votes

Although they are clearly influenced by Celtic music, the name of this group from Valladolid honors the brand of tobacco one of its members smoked in 1984, ultimate Orwellian year that gave birth to the band.

With almost three decades of experience, and several changes in formation, Celtas cortos remains one of the most solid projects of Spanish rock, with more than two million copies sold.

Their first album, Salida de emergencia  (Emergency Exit, 1989), contained instrumental songs with Celtic sounds, although the second changed direction introducing lyrics and a fusion with other styles such as rap, reggae and heavy metal. But success came along with the release of Cuéntame un cuento  (Tell Me a Story, 1991), with emblematic songs as 20 de Abril or the one that gives the title to the album.

They are now touring with Contratiempos  (2014), an album that includes four songs recorded with the Symphonic Conservatory Band of Valladolid. On the tour they play this format in collaboration with local bands; in this unique concert in Mallorca they do so with the Philharmonic of Porreres.
