'Don Quixote'

The Moscow Ballet returns to Palma Auditorium with this ballet premiered in Paris in 1846 with music by Australian Ludwig Minkus. This is a free version by Marius Petipa who has directed the libretto and choreography of Chapter XIX of the second part of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, which narrates in three acts the romance between the barber Basilio and young Quiteria (called Kitri in the ballet).

Parting from the choreography of Petipa different versions have been realized, including the one from Russian Alexander Gorsky in 1900, which was a great success. This version is the one that we will now be able to see in Palma with a cast led by the marriage Moldovan dancers Cristina and Alexei Terentiev, two artists that convey emotion and the most refined technique of the Russian school.

The Moscow Ballet is a company made up of some of the leading dancers and choreographers of the Russian ballets, as the Bolshoi and the Stanislavsky. It was founded in 1989 by Timur Fayziev and in 1991 was the only one in Russia invited to participate in the last tour through England, Norway and Sweden of the legendary dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev.

Its repertoire represents the best pieces of classical ballet, among which are Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker  and  Giselle.
