It is the first of the celebrations to mark the centenary of the death of Archduke Luis Salvador (1847-1915), a figure of great significance in the history of Mallorca. The presentation of the Archduke Year 2015 will be held by Rafael Creus and will begin with the interpretation of two pieces of Andreu Torrent, by pianist Diana Miguel de Lauzon.
The program continues with an audiovisual around the life and work of the Archduke and the interpretation of Sa Foradada (lyrics by Rafael Estaràs and music by Miquel Brunet), Valset amigo (music by Aníbal Troilo and JM Contursi) and Dying love (lyrics by Gabriel Janer Manila and music by Miquel Brunet). These works will be performed by Tomeu Estaràs (flute), Genia Tobin (vocals) and Miquel Brunet (piano).
There will also be a staged reading of several fragments of Lo que sé de Miramar, Die Balearen and Sueños de verano de la orilla del mar (Summer dreams at the seashore), by the actors Lluqui Herrero and Xim Vidal, and the interpretation of L'Aubada (music by Miquel Tortell and lyrics by Marià Aguiló) by Roger Berenguer and Alvaro Chaves (tenors), Joan Miquel Muñoz (baritone) and Diana Miguel de Lauzon (piano).
Followed by the performance of the Choir of the UIB, under the direction of Concepción Oliver, with Maria Antonia Gomis on the piano. The repertoire consists of Ave verum (Mozart), Cantata 147 (Bach), River (Ennio Morricone), Canticorum Iubilo (Handel) and the official hymn of Mallorca, La Balanguera, with lyrics by Joan Alcover, and music by Amadeu Vives and the choral version of Francesc Batle.
