This was the last comedy written by Oscar Wilde and is considered one of his best works. Set in Victorian England, The Importance of Being Earnest is a parody on the customs and the seriousness of society.
The English title plays on the double meaning of Ernest, first name, and earnest, meaning frank, which are homophones and sound alike. In the Catalan translation this is maintained as Frank (first name) and franc (honest) are also homophones.
La Brutal-Teatre Nacional de Catalunya produces this adaptation of L'importancia de ser Frank which is directed by David Selvas. It is interpreted by Miki Esparbé, David Verdaguer, Norbert Martínez, Laura Conejero, Paula Malia, Paula Jornet and Mia Esteve.
