This exhibition, which is now presented on the Planta Noble of the Galeria Pelaires, takes the title, Portrait of Fat Man, and some of the imagery, from two almost identical oil paintings on panel attributed to the great Dutch master Robert Campin. The two versions of Portrait of a Sturdy Man date from 1425 and are located in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin and in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid.
From these paintings, the Scottish artist Oliver Osborne (Edinburgh, 1985) began to work attracted by the enigmatic expression of the portrayed, Robert de Masmines, a face that, in its expressionlessness, remains a mystery almost 600 years later.
