The music of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, the forerunner of Sacred Minimalism, is the proposal of the second concert of the 2019-2020 Season of Fundació Studium Aureum. The concert is directed by Antonio Aragón and involves soloists, choir and the orchestra of Studium Aureum.
Arvo Pärt (Paide, 1935) is known mainly for his second compositional period, when he left behind the most severe neoclassicism to immerse himself in ancient music, which led him to produce a music of simple unadorned harmonies. In 2014 he received in Tokyo the prestigious Praemium Imperiale in the category of music.
The concert is dedicated to Pere Morey (1941-2019), historian, writer and music lover, with a program composed of Für Alina, Variationen zur Gesundung von Arinuschka, Morning Star, Fratres, The deer’s Cry, Spiegel im Spiegel, Vater Unser, Summa and Salve Regina.
