The second concert of the IX International Classical Music Festival Pianino 2016 gives us the opportunity to hear the music of Chopin as the Polish composer played it on his Pleyel piano, during his stay in the Cartuja of Valldemossa. The German pianist Tobias Koch will offer his concert on a Pleyel Pianino from 1838, restored by Olivier Fadini and with the same characteristics as the one preserved in the Cell of F. Chopin and G. Sand. The instrument has been specially brought from Paris to be played at the festival.

Tobias Koch (Kempen, 1968) is one of the most experienced musicians with pianos of the early decades of the nineteenth century. His extensive musical career has taken him throughout Europe as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist as well as participating regularly at major festivals: Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Chopin Festival in Warsaw, Rheingau Musik Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, among others.

He has published more than 25 albums with works by Mozart, Turk, Reichardt, Beethoven, Schubert, Burgmüller, Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, Liszt, Chopin, Schumann, Wagner, Brahms and Ferdinand Hiller.

The concert program is dedicated to Chopin and includes: 3 Mazurkas op. 59 (1845), Préludes op. 28 (1831-1839), Impromptu No. 2 op. 36 dièse fa majeur, Andantino (1839), 3 Nocturnes op. 15 (before 1833), Trois waltzes op. 64  (1840-1847), Etudes op. 25  (before 1837), 5 Mazurkas op. 7  (1830-1831), Valse fa mineur op. 70 No. 2 / WN 55  (1841), Préludes op. 28, Berceuse op. 57 bémol ré majeur  (1844), Polonaise op. 26.
