Palma de Mallorca

This celebration is held sixty days after Easter Sunday and combines religious tradition with festive and cultural events. In Palma, during this month, the emblematic courtyards of the historic centre remain open so that they can be visited.

The main core is the celebration of a mass in the Cathedral and the procession of the Corpus, whose most symbolic element is the lledània, a metallic cross adorned with multicolored flowers of wax that cover the streets of Palma. It is accompanied by the cossiers, (six men, a lady and the devil) and the cavallets. The dance of the cavallets is of medieval origin and in Palma is represented by five children, between six and seven years old, that hold two red cardboard horses, two black and one white, known as the Lady. The Corpus, is celebrated in most villages in Mallorca.
