Artà

The day of Saint Anthony of Padua, Artà celebrates the so-called Festival of the Convent (Festa del Convent). The celebrations are prolonged for a week, although the main event is a chariot parade in its saint day. In one of the chariots, there is a child dressed up as a saint and surrounded by angels; another chariot is composed by a group of girls who had their first communion that year.

The procession covers all the streets of the village while the cavallets dance. The dance of the cavallets is of medieval origin and in Arta is represented by five children, between six and seven years old, that hold two red cardboard horses, two black and one white, known as the lady.
