S’Hort des Correu, a private estate located at the exit of Manacor towards Porto Cristo, houses a small sacred tree in Mallorca, the willow mimbrero (Shrub of the family of the Salicaceas. On the night of Saint John (Sant Joan), parents with children under 14 which suffer from a hernia, visit the farm for a magical ritual.
The willow branches are cut in half, forming an arch under which they make the herniated children pass when the sun begins to go out. Then the branches are sealed with mud and tied with raffia or colored fabrics. When time passes, if the branch is still alive, the child will be healed, and if it’s not alive, he will have to undergo the ritual the following year.
