This theater was inaugurated in 2007 after a historical claim the of village of Son Servera to recover the gap of entertainment and culture that had occupied the legendary Cine de La Unió, until its demise in the mid twentieth century.
Today the Teatre Municipal La Unio is a space which generates culture and serves as a stage and rehearsal área for different artistic formations that florish in the village, such as Coral Son Servera, La Banda de Música, Agrupació Folklòrica Sa Revetla, the theater group Noctàmbuls , the cultural association riot or the local batucada BlocnBombo.
Its monthly program includes proposals for theater, film and music from January to June and September to December, plus workshops that are held on weekdays from disciplines such as dance and theater (for schools and adults). Each month of May it celebrates the Festival SonServeraClown, a cycle that has become a benchmark in the stage circuit of the island and that presents proposals nationally and internationally with shows of clown, humor and circus.
The theater has a capacity of 240 seats and a stage of 6x8 meters. In the basement there is a room for small-format proposals for up to 50 people and rehearsal rooms.
One of the goals of the theater is to reach as many people as possible, therefor it offers tickets at very affordable prices (between 5 € and 10 €) and has a very effective system of loyalty. This is the Club La Unió, which allows its members to accumulate points every time they attend a show and then exchange them for free tickets.
