El Festival Iberoamericà Siglo de Oro presents Los Bandos de Verona, a funny comedy of cape and sword, written in golden verse by the Toledan Rojas Zorrilla, based on the 16th century story Pyramus and Thisbe, which also inspired Shakespeare for his famous drama Romeo and Juliet.
The plot of the comedy of intrigue focuses on the difficulties that the protagonists (Alejandro Romeo Montague and Julia Capelete) encounter in establishing a love relationship aimed at marriage, due to the cruel confrontation between both families. Other secondary plots develop around this central conflict, in which the hilarious performance of the character of the funny Guardainfante stands out, who is shown to be cowardly and is capable of complicating the action.
