It is the 25th production of the Art Vocal Ensemble, which focuses attention on two representative figures of the musical baroque in Mallorca, such as Antoni Lliteres (Arà, Mallorca, 1673-Madrid, 1747) and Joan Rossell (Barcelona, 1724-Toledo, 1780 ). The concert is accompanied by an introductory lecture four days before.
Directed by Llorenç Gelabert Gual, the concert will take us into the musical discourse of the two authors, which combines the effects of Italian influence with a markedly intimate lyricism.
Antoni Lliteres was one of the main Baroque zarzuela authors, with titles such as Júpiter y Danae, Hasta lo insensible adora or Celos no guardan respeto. He is also the author of two operas, a dozen religious works, and two secular works.
For his part, Joan Rossell was chapelmaster of Santa Ana in Palma, and before that he had been the chapelmaster of the cathedral of Tarragona. He is the author of 177 ecclesiastical works, including 34 masses in Latin and 135 Christmas carols.
The Sacred Baroque concert in Mallorca is held in the church of La Porciúncula in Palma and is performed by the chamber ensemble Art Vocal Ensemble, with Ricardo Duato as concertmaster, and the sopranos Anaïs Oliveras and Nadia Akaarir.
Four days before, a free introductory conference is held at Ca n'Oleo by Francesc Vicens Vidal, musicologist and professor at the Universitat de les Illes Balears, which has had the support of the Social Council for the subject.
