The German tenor Daniel Kirch, accompanied on the piano by Francesc Blanco, perform Die Winterreise D911 (The Winter Journey), by Franz Schubert, within the 5th MallorcÒpera Festival.
It is the second song cycle that became popular and is one of the Austrian composer's masterpieces, as well as one of the first complete lieder cycles from the Romantic era in which the composer, following the thread of a complete story, uses different musical registers to fully explain the successive adventures.
The Winter Journey, together with The Fair Miller-maid, illustrates the rise of chamber music in the 19th century.
