Fine selection of oil paintings belonging to the Ibizan period of the Hungarian painter Elmyr d'Hory, owned by his friend Mallorcan businessman Pepe Rossello.
Elmyr d'Hory (Budapest, 1906 - Ibiza, 1976) was a famous Hungarian painter who during his lifetime sold more than 1,000 counterfeit paintings. Elmyr didn’t sign his paintings and the signatures may have been put by his dealer. We will never know if he knew the destiny of his paintings, but he always claimed innocence.
Among his paintings, we can recognize works that precisely mimic techniques, styles and themes of the most representative and influential artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as Renoir, Seurat, Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec, Rousseau, Monet, Leger, Chagall, Modigliani and Picasso among other great artistic geniuses.
