This photography teacher with over 20 years in the profession shows a collection of images of a carnival that has become the biggest street party in Europe. It is celebrated the last weekend of August in the popular district of Notting Hill , London.
The carnival commemorates the end of racist events that took place in the neighbourhood in the late '50s, where the resident population of the time, mostly Caribbean immigrants , suffered heavy attacks by extremist groups. The incidents took place on the streets of Notting Hill, in those days considered a ghetto and today one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods in the world .
In the set of snapshots that Juanjo Alonso presents he used the style of street photography , allowing the viewer to approach this carnival in a closer and intimate way.
