The Museum of the History of Catalonia produces this exhibition that delves into a historical episode that took place in many parts of Europe between 1450 and 1750, the witch hunt. Around 110,000 people were processed and 60,000 executed during that period. Most victims were poor old women who lived alone.
The exhibition Per bruixa i metzinera (For witch and poisoner) focuses particularly on the witch hunt in Catalonia through different sections. Showed are books on medicine and astronomy, pharmacy containers, prints, talismans and amulets, the first performances of covens and, among other things, a document of the proceedings against Francina Redorta dated October 1616 and belonging to the Abadía of Poblet (Tarragona ).
