As is tradition, the closing concert of the Jazz Voyeur Festival is carried out by a Gospel formation, coinciding with pre-Christmas dates. In this its fifteenth edition, the festival joins the 50th anniversary of the recording of Amazing Grace with this show presented by the Black Heritage Choir.

Aretha Franklin recorded Amazing Grace on January 13 and 14, 1972 at the News Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, and it was released as a double album in June of that same year on Atlantic Records.

The album was a critical and commercial success, surpassing two million copies sold in the United States, earning it double platinum status and, a year later, a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance. year. Today, Amazing Grace is the best-selling album of the Queen of Soul's entire recording career, as well as being the best-selling gospel album of all time.

Amazing Grace. A Gospel Celebration to Aretha Franklin features the songs from the original LP in their entirety and some of her hits carved out of her throughout her musical career. This production would not be possible without the passionate participation of the Black Heritage Choir, a selection of singers from the Mississippi Mass Choir under the musical direction of Jerry Calvin Smith, organist of the Grater Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and pianist of the Greater Mississippi State Choir.

The concert will feature as a guest the Balearic group Mallorca Gospel Choir, made up of voices from more than ten different nationalities. Its repertoire ranges from the most traditional spiritual Gospel to modern Gospel combined with soul and rock songs, with artists like Beyonde or Marvin Gayve and songs of the American style from the churches of Harlem.

The 15th Jazz Voyeur Festival is held from November 4 to December 7, 2022 in Palma and schedules four concerts with leading figures in jazz and jazz fusion, a cycle of music and cinema and three free masterclasses given by the main artists that make up the festival. program in this edition.
