Art Futura 2012

Entitled Our culture is digital, the Art Futura 2012 festival offers an analysis of the current relationship of human beings with digital technologies, both globally and individually. This will include input from a panel of experts and the works of some of the most prominent artists of the international scene of digital art.

The audiovisual program consists of eight hours of high-impact images with the latest creations of 3D animation, motion graphics, video and special effects.

Program:

Days November 7, 9, 16, 23 and 30:
Improv Everywhere: Special dedicated to this New York group curated by their creator Charlie Told
Everything is a remix: A documentary about the impact of new technologies in digital creativity.
Technopolis: Documentary about the Dutch artist and engineer Theo Jansen and his immense robotic creatures Strandbeest, which are one of the most important contributions in the last two decades to the debate on possible avenues of convergence between art, science and technology.
  • Métamoebius: Documentary dedicated to Moebius, an artist who has a    decisive influence on the animation, science fiction and current video games.

Days November 8, 10,17, 24 and December 1:
Future Graphics: Selecting the best works of motion graphics and animation in its most experimental form, with new aesthetics and languages: short films, viral, video, etc..
Just Lapsing Time: This new section includes some of the best detime-lapse works of the year with incredible scenery, ingenious music videos and stunning techniques.
Special Vimeo - Vimeo Festival: Selection of the best pieces viewed in the New York Festival Vimeo
3D Futura Show: Selecting the best 3D pieces made in the last twelve months with international productions.

November 8 20:30:
I'm a Cyborg Premiere: Javier Mazuelas directs this documentary about Neil Harbisson, Irish artist living in Spain and the first cyborg legally recognized by a government. Cyborg is the term that describes the union of cyber and body in the same individual. An electronic eye implanted in his head since 2004 has changed the way he perceives the world and changed the physical limits of the human being.
