The XXXVIII International Deià Music Festival is dedicated to the memory of Ivan Moravec (1930-2015), a famous Czech pianist noted for his performing arts. Of this new installment of The Ivan Moravec in memoriam Piano Series will be in charge the young Japanese pianist Ayaka Shigenobu (Hiroshima, 1990).
Shigenobu received her first piano lesson by her mother at five years old and in 2004 she entered the Yehudi Menuhin School in England, where she studied with Marcel Baudet and Renana Gutman. She continued her studies in Germany at the Universität der Künste Berlin. From a young age she has participated in many concerts as a soloist, chamber musician and with orchestra.
In these years she has won several awards, including the third prize in the Euregio Award Piano Competition of Geilenkirchen (Germany). This institution collaborates in the concert Ayaka Shigenobu now offers in Music Festival of Deià, where she will perform works by Debussy, Beethoven, Franck and Albeniz.
The International Music Festival of Deià, with artistic direction of pianist Alfredo Oyagüez, held from May until late September at the Music Hall of Son Marroig, an old country estate nestled on the coast of Deia, in the Sierra Tramuntana, which belonged to Archduke Luis Salvador. Today it is a museum dedicated to his figure.
In between each concert you can enjoy spectacular views over the sea from its magnificent terrace.
