A program dedicated to three of Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. These concertos, which he presented to the Marquis of Brandeburg in 1721, constitute a summary of the baroque thick concerto tradition and a harbinger of the instrumental concerto of the impending classical era.
The concert will be carried out by the Orquestra de Cambra de Mallorca, conducted by Bernat Quetglas, with the soloists Olivier Charlier (violin), Xesc Crespí (flute), Enrique Sánchez (flute) and Jaume Tomás (harpsichord).
The program consists of the Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 in G major, BWV 1048 (the most popular of the whole series), Brandenburg Concerto no. 4 in G major BWV 1049 (the most modern in conception) and Brandenburg Concerto no. 5 in D major BWV 1050 (which stands out for its virtuous treatment of the harpsichord).
