Carmen Linares, 2022 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, opens the 15th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival with her show Cantaora: 40 años de Flamenco. A concert in which the Mallorcan Maria del Mar Bonet and the group from Formentera Saxoleá will perform as guest artists.

Carmen Linares belongs to a group of illustrious flamenco artists along with figures such as Paco de Lucía, Camarón de la Isla, Enrique Morente, José Mercé and Tomatito. What makes her a living legend of flamenco.

Her first album is from 1971, which she published together with maestro Juan Habichuela. Since then she has recorded twelve albums in the main cast and twenty collaborating with other artists. The last one, in La Paloma de Picasso (2020) with Luis Pastor, in the theme Maria Pineda.

Among her projects, along with other outstanding artists, Anthology of women in singing (1996), Old Popular Songs of Lorca (1993) or Verso a Verso sings to Miguel Hernández (2017) also stand out.

Throughout her career she has won other important awards, being the only woman in the world of flamenco to win the National Music Award in 2001. She has also been recognized with the Medal of Fine Arts in 2006 and nominated for the Grammy Awards. Latinos in 2002 and the Goya in 2019.

Cantaora: 40 años de Flamenco, which she is now presenting at the opening concert of the Jazz Voyeur Festival, is a unique show with the most important songs throughout her artistic career.

The guest of honor is the Majorcan Maria del Mar Bonet, with more than fifty years on stage and a reference in Mediterranean song.
