Daevid Allen (Melbourne, 1938) is an Australian musician and writer with a discography that reaches 45 titles and some very close ties with Mallorca. At 22 he traveled to Paris inspired by the Beat Generation, where he befriended the writer William S. Burroughs and founded the free jazz band Daevid Allen Trio.
Later he traveled to Canterbury (England) and in 1966 founded the group Soft Machine with Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers and Mike Ratledge. With them he toured Europe to return to England but the authorities impeded him from entering, and he returned to Paris in full May 68.
Participated in the protests and had to flee from the police, reaching Deià along with his partner Gilli Smyth. Here he produced the first album of his group Gong Magick Brother (1969), and his first solo album, Banana Moon (1970). In Deià he also coincided with his colleague Kevin Ayers, who lived in this small town in the Tramuntana coast for many years until his return to England in the mid-90s.
Daevid Allen will perform at the Teatre de Lloseta accompanied by violinist Graham Clark, who already played together with him in Gong, and multi-instrumentalist Mark Robson, of Kangaroo Moon.
On the same night will also perform Oso Leone Trio and Pau Riba.
