The Euroregio Piano Series 2022 program of the Deià International Music Festival presents the young and virtuous South Korean pianist Dongkyu Leo Kim, in a concert at the Son Marroig Music Hall entitled A Spanish Journey.
Born in 1994 in Seoul, Dongkyu Leo Kim started taking piano lessons when he was just 4 years old. He studied at the Korea National University of Arts, continuing his studies at the University of Berlin with Professor Elena Lapitskaja, in Nuremberg, and at the Hochschule für Musik Johannes-Gutenberg, at the University of Mainz.
He has a repertoire that ranges from the music of J.S. Bach to the present, focusing above all on Viennese (Brahms and Haydn) and Spanish (Albéniz and Granados) composers.
In 2020 and 2021 he has received several awards in important competitions: International Music Competition in Vancouver, Danubia Competition in Budapest or the Gold Hands Awards at the Carles & amp in Ischia-San Donà di Piave (Italy), among others.
The program of A Spanish Journey, which is offered in this edition of the Deià Festival, is made up of works by Granados, Albéniz and Miret.
The XLIV Deià International Music Festival is held from June 2 to September 29 with concerts at its various venues: Son Marroig (Deià), Sineu, Sa Bassa Rotja (Porreres) and Palau March (Palma). This year the Caló de s'Oli auditorium in Ibiza is also incorporated with a benefit concert for APNEEF. The pianist Alfredo Oyágüez Montero is its artistic director.
