The Sierra de la Tramuntana, world heritage, has served as inspiration for the name of this musical group created in the summer of 2014 under the direction of Barry Sargent.
Ensemble Tramuntana varies in format depending on the repertoire: from small chamber ensembles to classical wind orchestra. They interpret repertoire from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries with historical instruments and programs with repertoire from the 20th century with classical instruments.
They have had the privilege of accompanying soloists such as Mallorcan violinist Francisco Fullana, French cellist Emannuel Bleuse, American-French flutist Charles Zebley, Belgian soprano Sheva Tehoval and oboist Josep Domenech.
They also organize every year, since 2020, a contest for young musicians with a very special prize: playing solo with the Ensemble Tramuntana.
In this concert it meets in chamber music format presenting Mendelssohn's Octet: chamber music in its splendor, with a program configured in two parts: the first with Symphony no. 3 of C.P.E. by J.S. Bach (1714-1788) and the second with Octet op. 20 by F. Mendelssohn (1809-1847).
