Saint Sebastian (Sant Sebastià) is held at various locations in Mallorca, but the most popular festivals are those of Palma, where the saint exercises as patron. They take place within a wide range of activities that begin practically after Christmas.
From January 11 to 20, Palma lives a few days of intense festivities of which the kick will be the opening ceremony of Saturday, January 11th. From then on people can enjoy the meeting of bands, popular games, children's shows, correfoc (Parade and fire show) and the famous revetlla of Sant Sebastià, where several squares of the city will host many musical performances.
According to tradition, Sant Sebastià saved from the plague of the seventeenth century not only Palma, but also towns like Calvià, Deià and Inca, which celebrates its name day. The festivals of Sant Sebastià also come alive in Pollensa and Muro.
