The 56th Festival of Pollença begins with this world-renowned British group with a repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to the present.
Gabrieli Consort was created in 1982 by Paul McCreesh, its artistic director, with whom it has performed world tours and much awarded recordings. McCreesh is known for the passion and energy with which he approaches his musical creations and is particularly interested in working with young musicians and expanding access to classical music.
The program in Pollença is titled Of A Rose is All My Song - A Marian Celebration and it is a homage to the English choral tradition. It includes two of the major 16th century Marian antiphons: Thomas Tallis's Videte Miraculum and William Mundy's Vox Patris Caelestis.
