The permanent room with the collection of Hermen Anglada-Camarasa of La Caixa Foundation presents a new exhibition around the theme of dance within the work of the Catalan modernist painter. Its inauguration will be held within the framework of the Nit de l'Art in Palma.
Born in Barcelona in 1871, the artist lived in Mallorca from 1913 until his death in 1959, except for his years of exile in France between 1939 and 1947.
The gypsy dance was one of the favorite motifs in his work, especially gypsy women, with undulating bodies and colorful dresses, which were the inspiration for hundreds of drawings and more than forty paintings.
Gitanas, el hechizo del baile (Gypsy women, the spell of dance), the new thematic collection, brings together a selection of works from the permanent collection of Anglada-Camarasa at La Caixa Foundation related to this ambience. Catalogued as a Patrimony of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Culture since 2003, it consists of 328 paintings and 194 objects.
Its opening is celebrated within the Nit de l'Art, with a concert by the group Ensemble BACHrroc at 20:30 in the hall of CaixaForum.
