Created in 2013 by the keyboard player and main composer Sergio Llopis, the Highlands Project collective is currently one of the most popular jazz bands in the Balearic Islands. Now we can enjoy music at the 27è Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla, in an open-air concert in the Parc de Can Cirera Prim.
The group has received high praise and good criticism from the specialized press in the country. Its hallmark is the fusion of various styles such as jazz, soul, funk and rhythm & blues. Although considered an underground group, their first album Skalanes (2015) entered the Jazz best-seller charts on iTunes Spain.
Their most recent album is VoiceOver Vol.1 (2017), a collaboration with different renowned musicians from Mallorca. In their live performances, the energy transmitted by the band's members draws powerfully, and above all due to the perpetual impulse to grow creatively.
Highlands Project is made up of Sergio Llopis (keyboards), Guillem Nadal (trumpet), Thomas Fontín (sax), Xema Borràs (trombone), Joan Colom (guitar), Jordi Tugores (guitar), Juanjo Amengual (bass), Teo Salvá ( drums) and Rogerio Santos (percussion).
Half of the proceeds from the ticket will go to the Associació Llar de Memòria.
