II Open House Palma

0 Votes

The Open House festival was created in 1992 in London by the architect Victoria Thornton. The objective was to make the architecture and urban landscape of the British capital known to the general public by opening some of its most emblematic buildings.

For more than ten years, the event has been organized in main Spanish cities and now also in the Balearic capital. The second edition of the Open House Palma will take place from October 17 to 23  and pays tribute the Palma architect Josep Ferragut Pou.

Open House Palma is the largest architecture and open house festival of all those held in the city. During these two days, more than 80 buildings and spaces will be opened to the public, usually closed or hidden from the public and whose common denominator is being the best examples of architecture and design in Palma. In this link you can see all the buildings that are visited during the festival.

The free visits to the buildings will be carried out by a team of volunteers who, previously, will have received specific training for each building.

The program also includes up to six different types of activities for citizens: Open Talks, Open Walks, Open Bike, Open Family, Open Photo and Open Social. Both guided tours and activities require prior registration.

Check the schedule on the Open House Palma website, where you can also register.

Open House Palma is a member of the international network Open House Worldwide. It is organized by the Open House Palma Cultural Association, whose main objective is to promote and disseminate the city's architectural heritage among citizens, understood as a crucial element of our culture.

For this association, culture and heritage are the bases of collective memory, playing a fundamental role in the construction of our social identity.
