This year marks the centenary of the birth of John Cage (1912-1992), a versatile artist who apart from a composer and instrumentalist was also philosopher, music theorist, poet, painter and amateur in mycology. A pioneer of aleatory and electronic music, Cage is one of the leading figures of the post-war avant-garde and one of the most influential composers of contemporary music.
The Berlin pianist Jan Gerdes joins this anniversary with a tribute concert in which he plays sonatas and interludes from this American composer.
