Jazz and wine are good traveling companions and there are increasingly more festivals that combine both proposals, such as Cognac Blues Passions in France or Vijazz in Vilafranca Penedès (Barcelona). The Jazz Voyeur Festival, which this year takes on a multidisciplinary character, opens to this new initiative with a route that combines a visit to landmark buildings, live jazz and wine tasting.
The starting point is the Casal Solleric, a manor house built in the mid eighteenth century which functions since 1985 as Exhibition and Documentation Centre of Contemporary Art. Its elegant Baroque courtyard, large and magnificent stone floor, serves also sometimes as a concert scenario.
The route continues with a visit to the Teatre Principal, emblematic in the cultural life of Palma. This building, with a neo-Renaissance facade and renovated in 2007, was built in the nineteenth century on the site occupied by the House of Comedy since 1662. It is one of the main reference points of performing arts in Mallorca, staging some of the great concerts programmed by the Jazz Voyeur Festival over its nine editions.
Other unavoidable corners for jazz lovers, that will also be visited, are the Jazz Voyeur Club and the Blue Jazz Club, where you can hear live music every night. Finally, the Library Bonaire, which dedicates a section to the world of jazz with the latest publications and recordings.
It is in the Jazz Voyeur Club where the last stop will be made with the concert by Juan Antonio Gil Estilos del Jazz Voyeur and the tasting of three wines organized by Mallorcan Wine winemakers: One Malvasia of Banyalbufar, a black boot and a sweet wine Mallorca (white or black). The tasting will be accompanied by a sampling of Mallorcan tapas.
Tours are conducted by official guides and an expert of jazz music and a wine expert. They are made in four languages, Catalan, Spanish, English and German.
