Jesus Christ Superstar was first released as a concept album in 1970 and a year later made the leap to the Broadway stages. This is a free adaptation of the Gospels which takes place during the last week of the life of Jesus, where the personal and political confrontations between Jesus and Judas Iscariot are highlighted. It starts at Bethany on the Thursday preceding the entry into Jerusalem and ends with the Crucifixion.
