Acclaimed pianist and composer Kenny Werner participates in the ninth edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival, in one of his rare performances in Spain. He does so backed by a quintet which also includes Antonio Sanchez (drums), Scott Colley (bass) and special guest, Randy Brecker (trumpet) and Benjamin Koppel (sax).

Kenny Werner (Brooklyn, New York, 1951) is one of the most prolific composers of jazz / contemporary piano. He trained as a classical pianist, but soon discovered his talent for improvisation and in the 70s he moved to Boston to study at the Berkley School of Music (the biggest private music university in the world). He was a disciple of Margaret Chaloff, extraordinary pianist and mother of the legendary baritone saxophonist Serge Chaloff.

Between 1981 and 1995 he joined a trio with Tom Rainey (drums) and Ratzo Harris (bass), with which he toured the stages of America and Europe. Since then has performed and recorded with many musicians such as Dave Holland, Charlie Haden, Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz, among others.

Kenny Werner has also been honored for his work as an educator. In 1996, he published Effortless Mastery (Effortless Mastery), a book that talks about the physical, technical, physiological and spiritual music. Currently, he teaches his techniques at the University of New York.

In addition to the six scheduled concerts, the Jazz Voyeur Festival this year includes a series of film & Jazz held from 12 to 15 November at the Teatre Catalina Valls.
