This famed work by German composer Carl Orff (1895-1982) is based on a collection of goliard songs of the 12th and13th centuries, which were found in the 19th century in a document found in Benediktbeuern Abbey (Bavaria). The term Goliard was used in the Middle Ages to refer to certain types of vagabond and licentiousness clerics.

Carl Orff premiered Carmina Burana in 1937, structured as a scenic cantata for orchestra and chorus, with the participation of soloists (soprano, tenor and bass) and giving a prominent role to percussion. His spectacularity, the mystique that envelops and to appear in films such as Excalibur  and  The Seventh Seal  have made it one of the most popular musicals work. So much so, that since 2003 has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

In Palma Auditorium will be heard by hand State Symphony Orchestra and Chorus Russians, one of the most important formations of Eastern Europe. Founded in 1946 by M. V. Shkolnikov, develops an intense activity both within the country as elsewhere in Europe.
