It is one of the masterpieces of the history of music and the best known of its author, the German composer Georg Friedrich Handel (Halle, 1685 - London, 1759 ). Regarded as one of the pinnacles of Baroque, he is among the most influential composers of Western music, the first to focus on his music to please the public, rather than for nobility and patrons, as was usual at the time.
Handel composed Messiah HW 56 in 1741 in London in just three weeks. Although it is a work that is traditionally associated with Christmas, especially in the American tradition, this oratorio tells about the life of Jesus, not only of his birth.
La Fundació Studium Aureum includes using the latest critical edition based on chronological manuscripts since the premiere of The Messiah in the New Music Hall in Dublin in 1742. Easter will be the centerpiece of this concert for soloists, chorus and orchestra.
The concert is directed by Carles Ponseti and act as soloists Marcela Inguanzo (soprano), Waltraud Muncher (mezzo-soprano), Frédérique Sizaret (mezzo-soprano), Yolanda Riera (mezzo-soprano), Antonio Riera (tenor), Pau Bordes (bass) and Josep Miquel Ribot (low).
