The CCA Espai presents this exhibition of young Majorcan artist Sarah Charlotte Watson, consisting of two interrelated conceptual art projects together: the Goddess series and the sculptural work Ciudad (City).
Goddess consists of thirteen paintings of medium and large format in which the artist calls into question the current conception of women in contemporary society. Watson repositions women as a divine form or Goddess, according to the precepts of ancient civilizations, converting each of the depicted figures into an allegory of the 13 months in the Maya calendar
Ciudad (City) is a large sculptural work in which a model of a contemporary city is represented. The project stems from reading literature of the maestros of dystopian fiction as Aldous Huxley and George Orwell and translates itself into a questioning of morality and articulation of modern society.
