In the last century the Manacor society has changed enormously and many pictures of the past have become mere memories. Many trades have disappeared and there has been a curious phenomenon: the craftsman has become artist and the former everyday product, the object of luxury.
The History Museum of Manacor now houses an exhibition No hi ha temps que no torni (There are no times that won’t come back) that gathers these ancient crafts not to fall into oblivion. Around the exhibition three conferences will be organized: Honorable carpenters of Manacor, by historian Sebastià Sanso (Feb. 27); The office of keeper in Mallorca by Angel Aparicio, Chairman of the Group for the Study of the Balearic Fortifications (March 13); and Women of Manacor in the labour market. The case of the pearls, by art historian Isabel Riera (April 3).
Also a craft show will be celebrated at the Museum on April 5, with the participation of several artisans displaying their crafts , some hunted in oblivion.
