The Symphony Orchestra of the Illes Balears opens the 55rd edition of the Festival de Pollença with this concert directed by Ángel Gil-Ordonez and featuring a special guest, pianist Michel Camilo.
Born in Santo Domingo in 1954, Camilo is one of the highlighted Latin jazz musicians, with a long career that began in 1985 with his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York with his trio. For his performance of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, which can be heard for the first time in this festival, Camilo received a Grammy award for best recording.
Meanwhile, Angel Gil-Ordonez is one of the most important Spanish directors residing in the United States. The Washington Post defined his style as 'fascinating' and 'colorful texture such as a Fauve painting'.
